1. Purpose
This Commission Policy explains how KANAPURO accepts, manages, completes, and delivers custom creative commissions.
This Policy forms part of the KANAPURO Terms of Service. Individual commissions may also be governed by a separate Commission Agreement that establishes the specific terms of a project.
Where a Commission Agreement conflicts with this Policy, the Commission Agreement controls only for that project.
2. Availability
Commission availability is determined by KANAPURO.
Opening, closing, pausing, or limiting commissions does not obligate KANAPURO to accept future requests.
KANAPURO may modify available commission categories, pricing structures, or offered services at any time.
3. Requesting a Commission
Submitting a commission request does not create a contract.
To request a commission, Customers should provide sufficient information for KANAPURO to evaluate the project, including:
- the requested work;
- intended usage;
- visual references;
- requested deadline, if any;
- technical requirements;
- preferred deliverables; and
- any other project-specific requirements.
KANAPURO may request additional information before providing a quote or accepting a project.
Failure to provide requested information may delay or prevent acceptance.
4. Official Channels
Commission requests, payments, files, approvals, and project-related communications should be submitted only through Official Channels approved by KANAPURO.
KANAPURO is not responsible for commissions, payments, agreements, or files submitted through unofficial accounts, impersonators, unauthorized payment links, or unapproved third-party channels.
5. Acceptance
A commission is accepted only after:
- KANAPURO confirms acceptance in writing; and
- both parties agree to the applicable Commission Agreement.
Quotes, conversations, availability checks, and preliminary communications do not constitute acceptance.
KANAPURO may decline any commission request for any lawful reason.
KANAPURO is not obligated to explain why a request was declined.
6. Quotes and Commission Agreements
Before work begins, KANAPURO will provide or prepare a Commission Agreement describing the project.
Depending on the project, the agreement may include:
- pricing;
- deposit or payment schedule;
- deliverables;
- estimated timeline;
- revision process;
- commercial licensing;
- source file availability;
- rush service terms;
- cancellation terms;
- delivery format;
- resolution or technical specifications; and
- project-specific conditions.
Each Commission Agreement applies only to the project for which it was created.
7. Payment
Payment terms are established in the applicable Commission Agreement.
KANAPURO may require full payment upfront, a deposit, installment payments, milestone payments, or another payment structure depending on project scope.
Work is not required to begin until the required initial payment has been received unless KANAPURO agrees otherwise in writing.
8. Communication
Reasonable communication is expected throughout the commission process.
KANAPURO may request Customer approval at specific project milestones, such as sketch approval, concept approval, major composition approval, or final review.
Unless the applicable Commission Agreement states otherwise, KANAPURO is not required to pause work for every minor artistic decision.
If KANAPURO specifically requests approval before continuing, work may pause until the Customer responds.
If KANAPURO sends progress updates without specifically requesting approval before continuing, KANAPURO may continue working using reasonable artistic judgment.
Customers should clearly communicate required changes as soon as possible. Requested changes made after KANAPURO has reasonably continued work may be treated as revisions or changes in scope.
KANAPURO may also choose to continue work after thirty (30) days without a needed response, pause the project, close the project, or treat the Customer's non-response as approval to continue, depending on the stage of work and the applicable Commission Agreement.
9. Project Workflow
KANAPURO generally completes commissions using a milestone-based workflow.
Milestones may include concept, sketch, linework, color, rendering, final review, or other project-specific stages.
Where Customer approval is required, KANAPURO will identify the approval milestone before continuing.
Substantial changes requested after a milestone has been approved may require additional fees, a revised timeline, or a new Commission Agreement.
10. Revisions
Revision terms are established in the applicable Commission Agreement.
Reasonable revisions may be included at designated project stages.
Revisions that exceed the agreed scope, require completed work to be redone, or materially change the project may require additional payment.
KANAPURO may decline revision requests that would substantially alter the agreed project, violate policy, or require work beyond the agreed scope.
11. Customer Responsibilities
Customers are responsible for:
- providing accurate project information;
- supplying reference material they are authorized to use;
- reviewing approval milestones in a timely manner;
- communicating requested changes clearly;
- identifying required usage rights before work begins;
- confirming technical requirements before work begins; and
- complying with applicable law.
KANAPURO is not responsible for delays resulting from incomplete information, unclear instructions, unavailable references, or delayed Customer responses.
12. Changes in Scope
Requests that materially expand or alter the originally agreed project scope may require additional fees, revised timelines, or a new Commission Agreement.
KANAPURO will notify the Customer before performing paid work outside the agreed scope.
13. Rush Projects
Rush scheduling may be offered at KANAPURO's discretion.
Where available, rush projects may require additional fees or modified project terms.
Rush availability is never guaranteed.
14. Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation and refund eligibility are governed by the applicable Commission Agreement and the KANAPURO Refund Policy.
As a general principle, work already completed or time already spent may be non-refundable.
KANAPURO may cancel a commission where continuation becomes impossible, unlawful, unsafe, abusive, or commercially unreasonable.
15. Project Inactivity
Unless the Commission Agreement states otherwise, thirty (30) days without a needed Customer response is considered project inactivity.
If a Customer becomes inactive, KANAPURO may take one or more of the following actions:
- send a reminder;
- pause the project;
- continue work using reasonable artistic judgment;
- treat the last approved milestone as final approval to continue;
- close the project; or
- require a revised agreement, revised timeline, or reopening fee before resuming.
If a project is closed due to Customer inactivity, refund eligibility is based on the stage of completion, work already performed, and the Refund Policy.
Customer inactivity does not automatically entitle the Customer to a refund.
KANAPURO should make reasonable efforts to communicate before closing a project, but KANAPURO is not required to keep a commission open indefinitely.
16. Delivery
Completed work will be delivered using the method identified in the applicable Commission Agreement.
Delivery format, resolution, file types, and source file availability are determined on a per-project basis.
Unless expressly included in the Commission Agreement, source files are not included.
17. Licensing and Commercial Use
Ownership, licensing, Intellectual Property rights, and commercial usage rights are governed by the Terms of Service, the Commercial Licensing Policy, and any applicable Commission Agreement.
Unless expressly granted in writing, commissions are provided for personal, non-commercial use only.
No commercial rights are granted unless expressly stated in the Commission Agreement or a separate Commercial License.
18. Portfolio and Display
KANAPURO's rights to display commissioned work are governed by the Terms of Service and any applicable Commission Agreement.
Confidential or private commissions must be agreed to in writing before work begins.
